The Heart of the World was commissioned by the Archbishop of Salzburg for Pope John Paul II’s 82nd birthday.

It consists of a heart with the portrait of the Holy Father protectively holding a child in his arms.

The lower part of the sculpture shows a heap of stones and phrase from Ezekiel: “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put into you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a Heart of flesh”. John Paul II gave his love to the whole world, a message we shall remember forever.
