The great composer and reformer of the opera Christoph Willibald Gluck was born in the region of Nuremberg in Germany.

When in 2005 Nuernberger Insurance decided to create a C.W. Gluck Festival they asked Anna Chromy to create a life-size figure of the composer.

The first original was installed in the Nuernberger Staatsoper, a second in the Headquarters of the Insurance company, and a third in the gymnasium of the city where Gluck went to school.
