Poseidon was one of the 12 Olympian deities of the pantheon in Greek mythology (Neptune in Rome). His main domain is the ocean, but he is also the god of earthquakes and inventor of the horse.
My Poseidon shows a frightening face to humans because of the maltreatment they inflict upon the oceans and their habitat. In revenge for their abuse Poseidon decides to reverse the roles and to catch man in one of those terrible drift-nets, which cause considerable ecological damage to the sea’s plant life, and in which innumerable sharks, dolphins, whales, turtles, sea birds and other marine mammals die in horrible conditions as unwanted by-catch (30,000 tons of sharks alone, per year).
I therefore see my Poseidon as the symbol for our combat to save the seas and their environment.
