Music of the Rivers - Fountain of Musicians
The source of inspiration for this group was Bernini´s "Fountain
of the Rivers" on Piazza Navona in Rome. Like Bernini, Anna Chromy is obsessed
with the "sonority" of her sculptures (e.g. the "Sound of Bronze"),
a feeling which she perfectly expressed in her "Music
of the Rivers". This is in fact the original title of the fountain installed
in Prague and which was renamed in honor of the unique musicality of the inhabitants
of this city. In the "Music of the Rivers" each character with his instrument
stands for one of the famous rivers of the world - the violin for the Danube,
the trumpet for the Mississippi, the flute for the Amazone with its sources in
the Andes, and the string instrument for the Ganges.
