Don Giovanni and the Sound of Bronze
There is a saying that the people of Bohemia are born with a violin in their
cradle. If you are in addition raised like Anna Chromy in the Mozartian triangle
- Salzburg, Vienna, Prague - you have music flowing in your blood. Anna Chromy
expresses this musical string of her character in her sculptures, which all dance
on the stage of life, always in motion, never still.
It was therefore no coincidence that she chose for her first monumental group
of sculptures the theme of Mozart's "Don Giovanni", whom Da Ponte, the
Venetian author of the text, called the "Sound
of Bronze".
