Bronze sculptures by Anna Chromy in China - Guangzhou/Canton & Shanghai
Guangzhou

Anna Chromy exhibited some of her sculptures in China for the first time in December 2005.  The occasion was the 10th International Art Fair in Guangzhou to which she was invited as an honorary guest. Her success with private collectors and public institutions was overwhelming, and her Carmen was dedicated in the Guangzhou Museum of Art as early as 27th February 2006. During the ceremony the town mayor underlined the fact that this was the first work from the west to be exhibited in the museum.
The museum is known primarily for its valuable inventories of Chinese calligraphy from all dynasties, Chinese painting and sculpture.
Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, located on the Pearl River with Hongkong and Macao on its delta, was China’s gate to the west for centuries.
The museum’s next new Anna Chromy acquisition – Sisyphus – was even announced during the ceremony to dedicate the Carmen exhibition.
